Spring Card

<<back

This makes a lovely change from a standard card. You will get the best results from a good quality card stock.

spring 1

You need to start with a piece of card twice the length of the width e.g. 12” x 6”. The starting size is up to you as long as you have a sqaure card when it is folded in half.

spring 2

With the fold facing up (mountain fold), score and fold the left hand half of the card in half to the middle (valley fold).

spring 3

Measure the half way point on both long edges and the short edge of the right hand half of the card and make a small mark with a pencil. (These will be points 1, 3 and 5.)
Score and fold between points 1 & 2 and 3 & 4.

spring 4

Cut the two triangles off the top edge of the card from points 1& 3 to point 5 that you marked in step 3

spring 6

Put double sided tape around the outside edges of the triangle and stick to the rectangle that forms the base of the card. If you want to decorate with embossing as I have on the finished card, you will need to do it before this step.

The following pictures show an oval shaped adaptation.

oval 1

Having got my card cut and folded to the original shape I opened it out fully and used a template to cut round it get the oval top as in this picture.

oval 2

This picture shows how it looks when the excess has been cut off.

Trim the corner to follow the new shape, not forgetting the other side too.

This is how it should look when you're finished - easy really! All you need to do now is let your imagination run free and decorate it any which way you choose!
